ONE WYLD JOURNEY
Back in 2018, burnout brought me to my knees - and the mountains brought me back. That journey of recovery led me to write 'Finding Hygge in the Wyld', diving deep into the science behind the healing power of nature connection. I even qualified as a forest therapy practitioner to pass on what I'd learnt.
Last year I lost my two fluffy adventure buddies - but a new chapter has begun with my beautiful little soul-dog 'Scout'. Together we're taking on all 214 of the Lake District's Wainwrights.

For over 90% of human existence we lived connected to the natural world, our wider environment, to natural light, scenery and seasons. Now for many, lives are built around convenience and artificiality, with attention captivated and exhausted by the little black screens that stress our nervous systems to breaking point.

![Grounding [or earthing] is believed to improve blood flow, reduce inflammation, neutralise free radicals and lower cortisol.
There’s little I find more grounding than spending a night beneath the stars. I believe it is a basic human right to be allowed to sleep outdoors in wild spaces, and I try and wild camp as much as possible through the seasons.
This year I will be running 3 ‘almost wild camping’ weekends in the Lake District to pass on everything I’ve learnt from 30 years of camping in the wilds.

But even in the most suburban of habitats you can benefit from the healing power of a good hike .. maybe try ditching the car and walking part-way to work, take a lunchtime wander in a park, or head to the countryside on the weekend.
