The Healing Power of Nature Connection

In “Finding Hygge in the Wyld”, Sarah Elvin takes readers on an intimate journey of rediscovering the primal connection between humanity and nature. After experiencing burnout, Sarah embarks on a road trip through Scotland, finding solace in the Danish philosophy of Hygge and the untamed beauty of the wilderness. Through personal stories of wild camps, mountain adventures, and the healing power of nature, she explores the science behind rewilding and the ways it can soothe our modern, overstimulated lives. With practical tips on outdoor living, recipes, and mindfulness techniques, the book offers readers an invitation to reconnect with their ancestral roots and embrace the tranquility found in the wild. Whether you’re an urban dweller seeking micro-doses of nature or a seasoned adventurer, this book will inspire you to rekindle the wild within and find your own sense of Hygge in the great outdoors.

The Hygge and Wyld Approach

In today's cortisol driven society, we need to relax, heal and re-wild our nervous systems more than ever, and nature connection is the key.

Friluftsliv

I embrace the Norwegian ideology of 'open air living,' taking any opportunity to spend time outdoors among the trees, mountains, and moors. I wild camp, roam, cook outdoors, and trek to mountain huts for a wild brew—anything to get me outside, absorbing negative ions and connecting with the healing power of the natural world. In my book and group sessions, I offer micro-dosing techniques for those who cannot access the wilds as easily.

Forest Bathing

Scientific studies have shown that Forest Bathing actively reduces stress hormones and cortisol levels, lowering blood pressure. The phytoncides by trees initiate a response in the human body, increasing our production of natural killer cells, boosting our immune systems, and helping us fight chronic disease.Last year, I became a certified Forest Therapy Practitioner to offer 2hr sessions.

Hygge Living

Mindfully creating time and space to invite the cosy contentment of hygge in to my day in pivotal in my practices. Whether I'm heading out to enjoy my coffee as a wild-brew, cooking my dinner over an open fire or watching the sunset I try and appreciate the warmth and connection in each moment.

Holistic Wellness

My approach to wellness is a 360-degree approach. My microdosing techniques offer ways to include nature connection and healing in every aspect of modern life, from grounding to negative ion absorption, taking coffee breaks outside, catching the sunrise to restore circadian rhythm, and experiencing the spiritual effects of Yugen, to restoring attention and regulating balanced brain hemisphere activity ... all done in the most hyggelig and soul-warming ways.
